Myocardial infarction causes
Myocardial infarction, otherwise known as a heart attack is usually caused by a blood clot that stops blood from
reaching a part of the heart. This kills the cells in the heart which may leave a large part of the heart unable to
function. Specifically, the coronary artery, the blood vessel that takes oxygen rich blood to the heart or one of its sub-
vessels becomes blocked. The blockage ensures that no oxygen can reach the heart resulting in a myocardial
infarction.
The most fundamental cause of a heart attack is a blood clot, or thrombosis. This thrombosis forms inside the
coronary artery which can be attributed to fatty deposits or plaque buildup. Lifestyle factors that can increase the risk
of developing a thrombosis include:
- Smoking

- High blood pressure

- High cholesterol

- Obesity or being overweight

- Unhealthy diets

- Diabetes

- Family history or genetic predisposition to heart disease or stroke

        Myocardial infarction symptoms
The severity of heart attacks varies depending on the individual. Some might show immediate cardiac arrest (a
sudden stopping of the heart) while others might not even show any symptoms at all. A myocardial infarction can
cause cardiac arrest, but it is certainly not the sole cause of cardiac arrest. Heart attacks can occur immediately
and without warning though there might be signs or symptoms up to several days in advance.
Most commonly, when a myocardial infarction is occurring, there is a severe chest pain which can feel like a heavy
weight being pressed onto your chest. The pain can travel up to the jaw area and down the left arm. Anxiety,
sweating and fainting is also common. Shortness of breath may also occur within this period. Heart attacks usually
take more than fifteen minutes to occur and may even take several hours.
Sometimes, people may only have a mild chest discomfort during a myocardial infarction that may have a
sensation similar to heartburn. Occasionally, myocardial infarctions will be painless and can only be diagnosed by
an electrocardiogram machine.

Cell therapy has been known to help reverse many genetic disorders since its discovery in the
1970’s. Scientists have found many ways in which this new technology can be used to benefit
humans. The basic technique used in modifying genetic material to treat or prevent disease is to
either repair or replace a faulty gene. The goal of cell therapy is to overcome the effects of
mutations responsible for genetic disorders. Genetic empowerment is happening today and will
soon be coming to the future of human evolution.
